REVERIE BY CAROLINE Hú SPRING/SUMMER 2025

For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, Caroline Hú delves into the themes of love and death, exploring the emotions tied to family, friends, and the turbulent world we live in. Love, while often a source of happiness, can also evoke darkness, loneliness, and greed—feelings stirred by the loss of a loved one or the bittersweet beauty of a landscape that reminds you of someone who is no longer present. This collection reflects Caroline Hú’s contemplation of love in all its forms, and the sense of relief felt when light finally breaks through. Inspired by the subtle beauty of everyday life and the fragility of emotions, the collection features vibrant hues and delicate silhouettes that capture fleeting moments of connection and introspection. The prints, all original, range from enlarged illustrations and watercolors of flowers, roses, mountains, and skies.

These emotions are expressed through ethereal colors, like a beam of light piercing dark clouds or soft light filtering through dense leaves. The collection also captures the red glow of light through a rain-soaked window, and melancholic shades of blue. Caroline Hú, known for her exploration of movement and volume, incorporated a live performance by dancers Emma Portner and Léo Handtschoewercker. Many of the new silhouettes seem to freeze moments of motion, shaped by boning and wire in the hems of skirts and dresses, or playful shapes that appear tugged to one side, as if caught in a door. Caroline Hú masterfully captures romantic details in these seemingly accidental moments.

The collection features an array of luxurious fabrics, including silk taffeta, sports performance fabrics made to resemble taffeta, printed silk organza, fine stretch jersey mimicking the look of organza, and hand-knitted tops. Caroline Hú’s signature smocking technique is present, along with her ongoing collaboration with the French lace company Sophie Hallette, who contributed tulle lace appliqués. The collection also extended Caroline Hú’s partnership with Adidas Originals, showcasing her interpretation of the iconic Adidas SL72 and Superstar sneakers, slated for release in November 2024. Additionally, Caroline Hú collaborated with the tech accessory brand Casetify to create a handcrafted ceramic pendant phone case.

The runway show transitioned into a contemporary dance performance by Portner and Handtschoewercker, whose choreography echoed the introspective tone of the collection. Caroline Hú shared that the moody atmosphere of the show reflected the darker emotions she experiences in solitude, with the color palette on the runway symbolizing these feelings. Caroline Hú’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a standout for its emotional resonance, blending dramatic silhouettes, meticulous craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the world around her. Through her artful designs, Caroline Hú presents a moving exploration of fashion as a medium for expressing and processing complex emotions.
