The Hui fall/winter 2024/25 collection designed by Hui Zhou Zhao, who loves Italy and has been showing in Milan for years, plays between Feminine will and creative power, the quiet strength of a millenary culture and the invincible dynamism of modernity. The collection celebrates the cosmopolitan spirit while honoring cultural heritage with a fresh perspective. The starting point is always the reinterpretation of China’s ethnic and cultural traditions, But this time we immediately get to the cosmopolitan and sophisticated image of Chinese women who today attend Western universities, do international business, travel and learn about the world as well as new technologies.
Drawing inspiration from the captivating allure of Italian culture, Zhao infuses her designs with an air of refined sophistication, capturing the essence of the modern Chinese woman who effortlessly navigates diverse spheres. Central to the collection’s narrative is the iconic Panda bear, reimagined through innovative techniques as intricate patches on camel pullovers, symbolizing metamorphosis and revitalization. Echoes of tradition resonate throughout the collection, as Zhao pays homage to the distinctive headwear of Hmong women from the Long Horn tribe, a testament to the enduring legacy of Miao craftsmanship. These meticulously crafted hats, showcased through intricate hairstyles and 3D projections, serve as poignant reminders of a vibrant cultural heritage.
Bold yet graceful, the collection seamlessly blends tribal motifs with contemporary flair, with jacquard sequined skirts in a palette of rich ebony, camel, and black alongside vibrant mini skirts inspired by the five rivers of Miao tradition. Each garment tells a story of cultural resonance, from cashmere vest coats adorned with ancestral patterns to knitted stitches juxtaposed with iridescent sequins.
