UMA WANG SPRING/SUMMER 2026

Change is the spontaneous or calculated reaction to what has been done so far, the contrarian answer to what came right before. One questions, upturns, undoes, or simply goes the opposite way; change is a way to postpone the inevitable. The Uma Wang Spring/Summer 2026 collection serves as a visceral reaction to the season that came right before, a deliberate shedding of previous constraints in favor of a newfound lightness. The bows are now untied, the waist is liberated, and the once-structured hips and backs are deflated. While the signature elongation remains, the shoulders have settled into a state that is almost natural, allowing the garments to breathe and settle with the wearer.

The resulting silhouette is a cascade of lines where everything twists, turns, bends, and drapes around the body. This is a profound exploration of fluidity, maintained by just a hint of structure to keep the narrative together. Wang finds her intellectual anchor in the Virtues that populate the Loggia di David in Palazzo Te, Mantua. Looking at these aged statues, one sees magnificent marble drapings that seem to defy their own mineral weight, some even veiling the faces of the figures. This serves as a primary inquiry into the way fabric falls—the tension between inherent stiffness and ultimate fluidity.

The palette is drawn from the colors of aged marble, evoking a sense of timelessness and stone-like depth, while cravatteria motifs are introduced as a rhythmic counterpoint to the softer drapes. It is a study in tailoring and liquidity, where the weight of history meets the weightlessness of the present. The collection moves as an uninterrupted flow, a singular moment of aesthetic clarity which change will wipe away soon, or perhaps never.
