UMAWANG SPRING/SUMMER 2027 COLLECTION

Uma Wang Spring/Summer 2027 collection is a study in sculpture and lightness. Sculpture is the starting point, but set in motion: solid things made to seem light, substantial clothes that refuse to behave as such. Elements return from the previous collection, continuing a narrative rather than repeating it: elegant pieces stripped of formality and worn with an instinctive ease.

An Alexander Calder equation is at work here. Mass becomes mobile; gravity becomes almost incidental. A tailored jacket trails a silk drape. A skirt and a pair of trousers become one. Heavy draped cotton is cut against a chiffon trench so light it seems to disappear. Textured cotton jacquard meets liquid viscose. Surfaces are dense, dry, soft, fluid. The clothes ask to be touched. How they are worn matters as much as what they are. Trousers are knotted, fastened or left open. Pieces are tied, undone, wrapped, shifted. The garment is deliberately unfinished until it meets the body. The wearer makes the final decision.

This is not styling as decoration, but styling as construction. Spontaneity becomes a method, and movement becomes part of the design. Everything remains in suspension: weight and lightness, density and fluidity, precision and accident. Clothes that hang in the balance.
